Andrew Wiggins signs contract extension with Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed Andrew Wiggins to a contract extension. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. But owner Glen Taylor said in August that he offered Wiggins a five-year max extension worth $148 million.

Andrew Wiggins started his NBA career at the front of his rookie class. He finished his first season there, too. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ forward will be named rookie of the year today, a person with knowledge of the announcement told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made. After coming to the Timberwolves in the trade that sent Kevin Love to Cleveland, Wiggins averaged 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds while playing all 82 games in his first season. Wiggins was drafted No. 1 overall by the Cavaliers last summer and has been a hyped prospect since he was a teenager growing up in Toronto. WENATCHEE – Chelan native Joe Harris has a guaranteed roster spot on the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing next to LeBron James. Harris was drafted 33rd overall in June’s NBA Draft by the Cavaliers. On Tuesday, he signed a two-year deal with the team with a third-year player option. The contract guarantees Harris’ roster spot on the Cavaliers for the next two seasons.
