Three killed in Northern California wildfire; thousands flee

Shadle Park graduate and pro runner Nick Hauger may have set U.S. record

Nick Hauger, a former University of Portland cross country standout who is now a member of the Flagstaff, Arizona-based professional running team NAZ Elite, posted a 10-mile time of 48 minutes, 55 seconds to run away with a win in California hosted by the team's sponsor, Hoka One.

WCC delays start of fall sports competition until Sept. 24

The WCC’s decision impacts volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s cross country, as well as traditional springs sports such as tennis, rowing and golf that also compete in the fall. The announcement doesn’t pertain to men’s and women’s basketball, which can open as early as Nov. 10.
