Man’s dead body found near Hayden Creek

Two men walking in the Hayden Creek area shortly after noon today found the remains of a man's body. Sheriff's officials haven't confirmed the identity of the body yet. Hayden Creek Road is closed between E Hayden Lake Road and USFS Road No. 206 while the investigation continues.

Cedar sculpin fish species discovered in region’s streams

Genetic testing has confirmed the presence of a new fish species in the Coeur d’Alene and St. Joe rivers. Cedar sculpins are small, prehistoric-looking and tasty to trout. For decades, fisheries biologists thought the minnow-sized fish were a more common variety known as the shorthead sculpin.

Gourmet Way’s move means space for cooking demos

A kitchen for cooking demonstrations will be added as Gourmet Way moves to Hayden Creek Plaza (8222 Government Way) on Sept. 1. The kitchenware, giftware, custom gift basket, wine and ale shop has been at 6848 Government Way for 10 years. Gourmet Way has a wine club that invites members to special events and with special purchases while familiarizing them with wines from around the world.
