Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is defending his support of longtime friend Donald Trump after being criticized about it by one of his players. Receiver Kenny Stills’ comments followed a report by the Washington Post that Ross plans to host a fundraiser for the president. Ross says while some prefer to sit outside of the process and criticize, he prefers to engage directly and support the things he cares about.

Kenny Stills and two other Miami Dolphins protested during the national anthem before their exhibition game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Receivers Stills and Albert Wilson kneeled behind teammates lined up standing along the sideline. Defensive end Robert Quinn stood and raised his right fist, as he did during the anthem last season with the Los Angeles Rams.
