No spikes in water usage as Spokane heads toward dry-spell record

Spokane is on track to break its record for the second-longest dry spell Sunday, and could set a new one for longest dry spell if rain holds off the following week. But Spokane and Spokane Valley water districts say water usage has remained normal, likely due to greater awareness about the importance of conservation.

Forecasters predict respite from the heat

After a run of hot temperatures, cool weather and thunderstorms are expected to reach Spokane and Coeur d’Alene by Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. While the weather outlook is improving, however, smoke from wildfires and high temperatures have combined to worsen air quality throughout Central and Eastern Washington.
