The WHL released a statement Sunday following reports the Winterhawks’ parent company, Portland Winterhawks Inc., reportedly filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy, and that the major junior hockey team had been handed over to a court-appointed receiver.

Seth Jarvis had two goals and an assist as the U.S. Division-leading Winterhawks defeated the visiting Spokane Chiefs 4-1 Friday night at the Moda Center in Portland.

Luke Toporowski spent Game 2 of the Spokane Chiefs’ first-round playoff series with the Portland Winterhawks away from the team, stricken with the flu.
