2016 Battle of Deep Creek

The members of the Washington Civil War Association drew a large crowd for the first day the Battle of Deep Creek, a Civil War re-enactment event held at a farm on the West Plains. A Civil War-era encampment of the North and South is made with all period equipment and battles are held each day, filling the air with the smoke of rifles and cannons. Civil War rages again at annual encampment

According to historical accounts, the Battle of Chickamauga spelled one of the most significant Union defeats in the American Civil War. Fought in southeastern Tennessee in September 1863, the casualty count was the second highest in the war, following the battle at Gettysburg.
