Kobe Bryant, whose jersey will join the others when he decides to retire, sat in a director’s chair for a television interview. Dwight Howard chucked up 3-pointers, surprisingly making more than he missed. Pau Gasol chatted with a team official.

Former Gonzaga player Sacre signs with Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers signed second-round draft pick Robert Sacre on Friday. Sacre, a 7-foot Canadian who played at Gonzaga, finished his Bulldogs career with 1,270 points and 679 rebounds. He averaged 11.6 ppg during his senior season. The Lakers also added assistant coaches Eddie Jordan, Bernie Bickerstaff and Steve Clifford to Mike Brown’s coaching staff. Jordan is the former head coach at Sacramento, Washington and Philadelphia. The 68-year-old Bickerstaff was a head coach in Charlotte, Seattle, Denver and Washington. Clifford was Stan Van Gundy’s assistant in Orlando the past five seasons. – AP

Lakers pick Sacre in NBA draft

Surrounded by family in Ville Platte, La., former Gonzaga Bulldog Robert Sacre was trying to get 9-month-old son Quinton to sleep when Sacre’s name popped up on the TV screen as the last pick of the two-round NBA draft Thursday night. “I had my son in my arms and everyone screamed and my son just jumped,” Sacre said in a phone interview. “It’s great to be part of something like that, especially being with my family at the time.”

Marquette’s Crowder leads East to All-Star win

NEW ORLEANS – Jae Crowder scored 25 points and Ramone Moore added 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the East to a 103-99 victory over the West in the Reese’s College All-Star basketball game Friday. Marquette’s Crowder, the Big East Player of the Year, was dominant down the stretch in a game in which neither team led by more than nine points. Jorge Gutierrez capped a 6-0 run to tie the game for the West at 91, but the team faltered in the closing minutes.

Sacre to play in Final Four all-star game

Gonzaga center Robert Sacre has been selected to play in the Reese’s Division I College All-Star men’s basketball game as part of the Final Four festivities this weekend in New Orleans. The all-star game, featuring 20 seniors divided onto West and East rosters, will be played Friday at the Superdome.
