Ottawa forward Scott Sabourin has been transported to a hospital for evaluation after being taken from the ice on a stretcher with his head immobilized following a collision with Boston forward David Backes early in the first period of Saturday night’s game between the Senators and Bruins.

Blackhawks trade center Artem Anisimov to Ottawa for Zack Smith

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Artem Anisimov to Ottawa in exchange for Zack Smith. It is a swap of 31-year-old forwards. Anisimov played four seasons for the Blackhawks, scoring 77 goals and adding 78 assists in 291 games, including 15 goals and 22 assists last season. Smith was placed on waivers last September only to go unclaimed. He had nine goals and 19 assists for the rebuilding Senators last season.

Oregon Republican senators end walkout over carbon bill

SALEM – Republican lawmakers returned to the Oregon Senate on Saturday, ending an acrimonious nine-day walkout over a carbon emissions bill that would have been the second such legislation in the nation. The boycott had escalated when the Democratic governor ordered the state police to find and return the rogue Republicans to the Senate so the chamber could convene, and a counter-threat by one GOP senator to violently resist any such attempt. Senate Republicans fled the state to avoid being forcibly returned by the Oregon State Police, whose jurisdiction ends at the state line.

Helena Senators Outlast Great Falls Chargers

The Helena Senators hosted the Great Falls Chargers for a Class AA American Legion Baseball game at Kindrick Legion Field on Tuesday, June 4th. The Senators rallied with four runs in the 5th inning and held off the Chargers 7-5 in their home conference opener.
