Northwest Passages: Karen Wickre and Tess Vigeland

Jesse Tinsley

Tech executive Karen Wickre and journalist Tess Vigeland dropped in on the Northwest Passages Book Club, organized by The Spokesman-Review newspaper, at the Bing Crosby Theater in Spokane Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019. Their interview, by Dr. Mary Cullinan, was about their approach to getting their dream jobs and why they walked away from those jobs at some point. Wickre worked in corporate communications at Google and Twitter, while Vigeland worked at NPR as the voice of Marketplace Money. They offered advice for women going into competitive fields. After the interview, the Inland Northwest Women of the Year honorees were called up to the stage and a special presentation was made by event sponsor Bank of America.
