The Huckleberries Online crowd isn’t a respecter of people, from President Bush, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on down. We lampoon them all. On Monday, John Austin, the king of the Huckleberries daily cutline contest, conjured an imaginary conversation between Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G8 summit, titled “Putin on the President”:

PUTIN: Welcome to St. Petersburg, Mr. President.

BUSH: St. Pete? My brother’s gonna be mad I didn’t call first.

PUTIN: No, sir. Not Florida. You’re in Russia.

BUSH: Russia? Why wasn’t I told – oh, yes, the G7.

PUTIN: G8, sir.

BUSH: Yeah, I jus’ ate … But I thought it was called Stalin-something.

PUTIN: Not Stalin …

BUSH: I’m not stallin’, Vlad. Just a little mixed up on my murderers.

PUTIN: Used to be called Leningrad, sir … we were under siege for years …

BUSH: Seege? I don’t remember him.

PUTIN: That was when it was Leningrad.

BUSH: Lennon-grad? So, that’s why he wrote “Revolution”?

PUTIN: That was before perestroika.

BUSH: Pair of what?

PUTIN: Perestroika. When Mr. Gorbachev proposed reforms …

BUSH: Oh, yes, when my daddy’s buddy said “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall.”

PUTIN: That was Berlin, sir. This is St. Petersburg. We’re Russian, now.

BUSH: Well, just slow down, then. You’re not communists, anymore.

PUTIN: Soviet, sir.

BUSH: Yeah, so be it. Now, where’s the golf course, Vlad?
