Loose dog may be costly

The Spokesman-Review

My morning run Sunday ended with a dog attack. This isn’t the first time I’ve been chased by dogs that are roaming free. This morning, three dogs that were not leashed or contained in a fence chased me down, and I ended up with torn-up running pants, a left calf that has puncture wounds and bruising, a trip to urgent care and a tetanus shot. This took three hours out of my day to take care of. The owner of this dog was gracious enough to offer to pay for a new pair of pants and my medical care: A bill over $100 when it is all done with.

Be warned that if your dog attacks, and the victim seeks medical attention, the victim will be required to fill out a report with the Spokane Regional Health District, stating the extent of attack and who the owner is. Decide whether or not it is worth it. Owners of dogs, please make sure your dogs are on leash, tether or somehow contained. Next time I will not hesitate to spray them with pepper spray.
