It was wonderful to read about all of the public outreach to the athletes in town for the wheelchair games. Thank you to the business owners who walked through their businesses with yardsticks to determine if their aisles could accommodate wheelchairs. All of the forethought given to make these athletes feel welcome has been terrific.

But as a mother of a teenager confined to a wheelchair, I truly wish that Spokane would remember there are plenty of people who live right here in our great city who would benefit from these same accommodations. Oh, to push my daughter through an appropriately spaced aisle! We’d sure love to shop without taking multiple clothing racks across the store with us.
