Neighborhood asset thwarted

The Spokesman-Review

Recently the city of Spokane shut down the outdoor music at the Rocket Market due to a noise complaint. The action is extremely disappointing as this is one of the few businesses creating a true feeling of community in the neighborhood.

Young children, elderly and everyone in between attended these music events (for free). Many people walked so they were from the neighborhood. Music never went past the 10 p.m. noise ordinance limit, and people attending were not loud and unruly during or after the events.

Spokane needs to encourage this sense of community, not discourage it.
