Detentions beyond absurd

The Spokesman-Review

I was appalled by the Haitian government’s arrest of a small group of missionaries recently. Their very presence in Port-au-Prince was motivated by rescue and relief, not by kidnapping or exploitation. Throughout history, the Christian church has been at the helm of medical, industrial, educational and economic relief and creation from the first century to the present.

The International Red Cross was started by Henri Dumont, a Swiss minister. Ditto the YM and YWCA. Haiti’s accusations are not only absurd, they are an act of war.
