Athletes disrespect flag

The Spokesman-Review

As a retired service member (27 years) watching the Olympics, I have a serious concern. I see our young and old athletes using the American flag as a backdrop, jacket, towel, etc. This is wrong.

I have not noticed other countries allowing this, but that is not the point. Why is the U.S. government allowing this? I have observed these kids using the flag as a towel and then dropping it on a bench. Many men and women have died for this flag. It is not a towel or a rag.

The 100th Congress passed House Document 100-247. This gives some basic information. I know that none of our elected or appointed politicians has the guts to even try to make this document a law. It should still be respected.
