Shame on the media for consistently portraying Spokane as a racially biased city. I find it to be quite the opposite, friendly and inviting to people of all races. Sure, there are a few malicious bigots in every city, but why judge us all by the likes of Kevin Harpham?

On Sunday, members of my family and I walked at SFCC for the national multiple sclerosis walk. There were over 2,000 people there. Spokane has one of the highest rates of MS in the country, and this is a fact. Nothing in your paper about this great turnout, yet a gathering of 250 (according to Channel 6 news) received front-page headlines. Apparently more of our citizens feel that MS is a greater problem than racism.

It is time the news media and the paper stop giving so much credit to a few crackpots and stop fueling the flames of racism.

Responsible journalism reports the news, not creates it.
