We recreate in the woods year-round on the St. Joe River in Idaho with our dogs. But we can no longer do so because of the new wolf-trapping frenzy that has caught hold. This witch hunt is now affecting innocent humans and wildlife.

The wolves have never bothered our dogs, but the snares have. Having already lost one dog to a snare, my pet dog was caught around her middle by a snare on a walk near our home. I had to hold her for over an hour on the ground while I desperately tried to get in touch with someone with heavy cutters by cellphone. She would have died had I not been there to keep the cable from digging into her guts.

This is nothing short of barbaric and inhumane! The collateral damage from this decision to trap wolves is an everyday occurrence. Several deer have already been reported getting caught in snares, according to Idaho Fish and Game. Let’s stop the madness!
