Playoffs used as leverage

Fox 28 has no cost basis for seeking a 600 percent increase in fees from DirecTV, one reason they refuse arbitration. DirecTV provides viewers who may not otherwise be available, raising Fox’s ad revenue.

Fox 28 has elected to hold viewers hostage during the NFL playoffs. Viewers on cable and via broadcast (and certainly DirecTV viewers) should boycott all locally produced programming: news, AM programming, anything other than prime time shows. It’s the only way to pay back for this outrage. When I eventually see local advertisers on Fox prime time shows, I intend to call and ask: “Why?”

The fact Dish Network is advertising, saying DirecTV has “dropped” Fox 28, is patently untrue and suggests collusion between Fox and Dish in the local markets.
