Critic will be missed

After 32 years as music critic for The Spokesman-Review, Travis Rivers is retiring. It was a privilege to have Dr. Rivers as our chronicler of all things musical. The elegance and erudition of his previews and reviews of regional musical events rivaled those of critics in much larger cities. He was a devoted and astute listener. His admiration and affection for Spokane’s musicians was always palpable in his reviews, though he was perfectly capable of letting us know when things could have gone just a bit better in performance.

And Travis, your reviews always had style. You engaged readers with an artful combination of sophistication and your inimitable Texas warmth and charm. Your readers will miss you terribly.
