I do not have the numbers and references that Cecilia Nolthenius (Feb. 6) has in defense of Idaho Fish and Game’s proposal for handling wolves. The only thing I can make reference to are my own experiences and what I read.

Fact: The deer and elk numbers are dwindling. Fewer and fewer hunters are buying deer and elk tags because they cannot find any to hunt. Fish and Game said it’s because of the increase in wolves.

Of course it’s about money. When there are plenty of game, people buy hunting licenses. They travel to other towns and states. Hunters buy gas, food and lodging. Everybody gets a piece of the pie.

I have just one question: Why does Nolthenius think our forefathers eradicated the wolves in the first place?
