With regard to Leonard Pitts complaining about discrimination again in his April 13 column, there are several points I wish to raise:

1. The title is “Excusing another ‘isolated incident’ ” (with regard to the police shooting in South Carolina). I have listened to many conservative pundits on this subject, and none of them is “excusing” what happened. They are as outraged as Pitts, and are glad someone was there to take the video. This makes me wonder if Pitts really listens to conservatives.

2. With regard to “pervasive racial bias,” how can this really be proven? Statistically, for example, over 90 percent of people in prison are men. Does this mean that the justice system is sexist? Should a bunch of men be released and a bunch more women arrested just to make it fair?

3. The cop who did the shooting was promptly arrested, thrown in jail, fired and charged with murder.

4. Pitts offers no solutions to his grievances in any of his opinion columns. This is not helpful for the rest of us.

5. Would Pitts, if he were a police chief, send only black cops into black neighborhoods?

6. Would Pitts presume that all white cops were guilty until proven innocent? Perhaps he should study the U.S. Constitution.
