Country Homes beautified

In our weekly travels, we have the pleasure of driving along Country Homes Boulevard, viewing the recent plantings of hundreds of trees, shrubs and plants between Cedar and Wall streets. Two years back, this street waterway was a mess of cracked cement, asphalt and weeds. Now, it is beautiful.

We watch the new plantings grow from the moisture supplied to feed these plants and trees. As a challenge to our city and county managers, and our mayor, we would enjoy reading the total history of this drainage waterway along Country Homes Boulevard; when the canal originated, how it was maintained, and now how it was improved and planted with greenery for everyone to enjoy.

When the cracked asphalt and concrete was removed, the contractors laid hundreds of feet of sprinkling hose and tubing, plus electrical controls to make all the engineering work properly, plus there are upright identification plaques on the north and south ends of the project giving the project a name.
