Smart meters, dumb Wi-Fi

If it wasn’t so aggravating, it would be laughable. OK, it is funny.

Inland Power & Light Co. has just officially switched on its rural smart meters. Now, I can see my up-to-the-minute Newman Lake electricity usage on my Inland Power smartphone application. But I can’t use the smartphone at the Newman lake address where the meter is located for phone calls or Wi-Fi.

Ridiculous, but true. So could power lines also carry Wi-Fi? Just asking.
