I am writing as a citizen concerned about our congresswoman, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and her opposition to the Affordable Care Act. Walking in lockstep with President Trump and his administration’s opposition to the Affordable Care Act will harm some of the people I care about most in the world.

My friends include small-business owners, whose employees would suffer from the removal of the protections from the ACA, start-up business owners who now fear the uncertainty in an environment where they cannot pursue their dreams of business ownership in an environment where their health care is now in the balance, and many more.

I am also concerned for many of the people I work with and the most vulnerable among us, including the clients I serve, the students of my teacher friends and the coworkers of many of my other friends. These are the victims of Cathy and Trump’s misguided gutting of the ACA. The entrepreneurs, the working poor and the idea of America are the victims of Cathy and Trump.

I hope Cathy takes her oath of office seriously, and starts to take the health and well-being of her constituents into account and rethinks her opposition to the ACA. I hope it won’t take her constituents dying in the streets in front of her office to get her there. I am concerned. I hope you are too.
