Letter wasn’t worthy

I am surprised and disappointed that you printed the Jan. 10 letter from Don Keeney (“Bearing false witness”). What is the false witness? To paraphrase, he said, “The DNC added outright lies … Hillary (her title is Secretary Clinton) repeated these talking points … the left’s hypocrisy knows no bounds … Clinton supporters continue to repeat her lies … why do they bear false witness?”

If you’re going to call someone a liar, you must first identify what you believe is the lie. Then, you must produce factual, or at least reasonable, evidence as to why it is a lie. Keeney did neither. Nor did he identify the hypocrisy and defend that accusation.

I believe in the responsible execution of our First Amendment rights. But printing name-calling insults without proper substantiation is irresponsible journalism and does not contribute to a healthy civic discourse. You know better than this.
