CMR shouldn’t be proud

Cathy McMorris Rodgers should be so proud. She has finally voted her conscience and after more than 50 failed attempts, has finally started the process to eliminate Obamacare. She voted to place a cap on Medicaid funding and end federal matching funds for Medicaid expansion by 2020. She voted to end subsidies for low-income Americans and to end employer and individual mandates on coverage.

She voted to eliminate Obamacare taxes on the wealthy that help subsidize health care and voted to end taxes on our poor insurance companies. She voted to levy a 30 percent surcharge on those who let their coverage lapse. She voted to reduce health care tax credits for the elderly. Under Obamacare it was $9,900; now it will be $4,000.

She voted for a bill that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office’s early estimate showed will discontinue coverage for 24 million people by 2026. She voted to allow insurance cost to rise for the 50 to 60-year-olds by five times the cost compared to younger policy-holders.

The best for last: She voted to allow states to waive protections for those with preexisting conditions.
