Forest mismanagement facts

It always amazes me at how stupid/biased liberals and the media are, their stance on global warming causing the forest fires is ridiculous.

The major reason for forest fires is the lack of harvesting in our national forests. According to the USDA around 2 billion board feet of timber has been harvested since 1990. From 1955 to 1990 they were harvesting around 12 billion board feet a year. During that period, we did not have a major fire problem. In order to have well-managed forests we need around 16 to 18 billion board feet year, not the 2 billion board feet currently being harvested.

The forests grow around 20 billion board feet a year. That means we have lots more trees in our forests and they need lots more water. If you do not get water to them trees will die and create lots of fuel to burn. That is why we have so many fires, not global warming.

The largest single organization cussing this is the Sierra Club and a few other “do good” organizations. Go on the USDA website and look up forest products cut and sold from national forest and grasslands.
