SB 6253

Right now in the legislature there is an opportunity to support SB 6253. This bill would require that all new investments in energy resources be fossil free, prioritize energy efficiency and phase out coal by 2030. We are making steady progress in developing clean, energy efficient technologies. We need to be directing our financial resources to these things rather than carbon producing coal and “fracked” gas.

In addition a carbon tax needs to be instituted so that polluters pay their fair share in addressing the problem of global warming.

The combination of these two efforts will head us in right direction and set an example for the rest of the country.
