I have received negative campaign literature in my mailbox last week. It is the third week in a row it has happened and the literature is only from one 5th Congressional District candidate. The literature only tries to portray one other opponent as a tax-and-spend liberal. There has been nothing about this candidate’s plans for the next congressional session.

Both my wife and I are strong opponents of negative campaigning. We place a very high value on integrity and character in judging a candidate’s fitness for office. The campaign literature that we received in the mail disqualifies the candidate sending the literature from receiving our vote. We believe a candidate’s willingness to use negative campaigning shows a serious lack of integrity.

The fact that the same candidate only presents negativity about the opponent also shows the candidate has a hidden legislative agenda that is adversarial to the best interests of the voters in the 5th Congressional District. Could that adversarial plan be using the Social Security and Medicare Trust Fund money to reduce the huge government debt created by the most recent tax cut?
