Brown supports more taxes

I think it’s time to see what Lisa Brown really stands for based upon her past actions.

First, in 2007, Initiative 960, which required a supermajority vote of the legislature or approval of the voters for any tax or fee increase, was overwhelmingly approved by a vote of the people. In 2008, as Senate majority leader, Lisa Brown refused to honor the vote of the people and mounted a legal challenge to the voter-approved initiative. Lisa was obviously dissatisfied with the democratic process.

Next, in spite of the fact that Eastern Washington voters have opposed a state income tax by over 70 percent numerous times since 1938, Lisa has continually supported not only a state income tax, but increases in sales, small business, motor vehicle, gas, water and death taxes. It would be hard to find a tax or fee increase that Lisa doesn’t support.

In sum, Lisa Brown stands for increased taxes and opposes the will of the people of Eastern Washington. Lisa might find support in Seattle, but she certainly doesn’t represent the views of the people of Eastern Washington, nor does she care about their wishes and values.
