The elusive third option

Just when I was thinking about writing in “neither of the above” when I vote in November, along comes Rep. Justin Amash, Libertarian of Michigan, who left the Republican Party to adopt the label of an independent.

A supporter of Trump’s impeachment, he is running for president for those of us who feel we have no other reasonable choice than a man who is obviously in over his head (and it shows), and an aging political actor whose last role was as stand-in for the star performer who broke a leg.

Granted, the latter old-timer, who will be just 17 days shy of 78 by November, does have a background in politics, while the former is three years younger but has never held a government or military office.

It remains to be seen whether Biden will live out his first term if he wins or leave us with a woman president, or whether Trump will be able to hold on to his first government job or Tweet himself right out of office.

Many happy returns to the Libertarian candidate.
