Area agencies are represented on the side of the new Spokane Sheriff's Regional Air Support Unit's search/rescue/fire support helicopter, Friday, May 4, 2018, at Felts Field in Spokane, Wash. The 1964 UH-1H was acquired from South Carolina through a surplus program at no cost to Spokane County. The copter is capable of of lifting victims to safety and conduct water drops on fires. The Air Support Unit now has 3 helicopters and addition to civilian pilots the unit has personnel from Spokane County Sheriff's Office, Spokane Valley Fire Department, Spokane Valley Police, Spokane Police Department, Spokane Fire Department, Kootenai County Sheriff's Office and the Coeur d'Alene Police Department (Dan Pelle / The Spokesman-Review)
