Doris Wichman Fairfield

Graveside service for Doris L. Wichman, 96, will be at 11 a.m Saturday at Riverside Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wichman died Tuesday.

She was born in Spangle.

She graduated from high school in Spangle and farmed with her husband on Paradise Prairie.

She was a charter member of Paradise Grange.

Her husband, Richard Wichman, died in 1965. She is survived by a son, Gordon Wichman of Cheney; six grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren and two great-greatgrandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Good Samaritan Center or Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.

Albert Huber Spokane

Family memorial service has been planned for Albert Charles “Al” Huber, 84.

Mr. Huber, former co-owner of the Spokane Valley Herald, died Tuesday.

He was born in Kansas City, Kan.

He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism and served in the Navy during World War II.

He was worked for the Kansas City Star and interviewed Winston Churchill and Harry Truman. He later owned the York (Nebraska) Daily News Times.

In 1955, he moved to Spokane, where he was co-owner of the Spokane Valley Herald from 1955 until 1960. In 1960 he was named community relations director for Sacred Heart Hospital, a position which he held until he retired in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Huber; two sons, John of Lacey, Wash., and James of Los Angeles; one daughter, Laurie Sheffler of Spokane; two grandsons and two granddaughters.

Helen Benoschek Spokane

Memorial service for Helen Benoschek, 85, will be at 7 p.m. today at Millwood Kingdom Hall. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Benoschek, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Tuesday.

A homemaker, she was a longtime Spokane resident.

She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by one son, Marlin Benoschek of Safford, Ariz.; one daughter, Bernice McGlasson of Spokane; two sisters, Doris Hansen of Spokane, and Alice Coleman of California; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Millwood Kingdom Hall.

Roger Hubner Oakesdale, Wash.

Graveside service for Roger R. Hubner, 53, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Oakesdale (Wash.) City Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hubner died Tuesday. He was born in Garfield, Wash.

He moved to Oakesdale with his family in 1945 and graduated from Oakesdale High School in 1959.

Following high school, he went to work for the railroad. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad four years ago after 32 years.

He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Oakesdale and the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Union.

He is survived by his wife of threeyears, Mary Hubner; a step-son Richard Jennen of Spokane; a sister, Catharine Crowe of Oakesdale; four brothers, Jim Hubner of Post Falls, Fred Hubner of Colfax, Ralph Hubner of Columbus, Ohio, and Arnold Hubner of Anderson Island, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oakesdale Fire Department Emergency Medical Technicians.

Marguerite Langlot Spokane

Service for Marguerite Langlot, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private intombment will be at the Riverside Mausoleum.

Born in Kalispell, Mont., Mrs. Langlot died Wednesday.

She had lived in Spokane for more than 70 years. She worked as a retail clerk at The Crescent.

She was a member of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star Ivanhoe Chapter No. 80, El Karnak Chapter Daughters of the Nile and the Lady Trainman Association.

Her husband, John Langlot, died in 1987. She is survived by a son, John Langlot of Spokane; a grandson, a granddaughter and two stepgrandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or Bonner Community Hospice.

Laura Ottmar Davenport, Wash.

Graveside service for Laura K. Ottmar, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport. Memorial service will following at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Davenport. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ottmar, who died Wednesday, was born in Davenport.

She graduated from high school in Davenport in 1936 and was a homemaker.

She belonged to First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ruben Ottmar; one daughter, Becky Ottmar of Centralia, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Share Center, Davenport, Lincoln County Multiple Sclerosis Society, or Davenport Public Library.

Brandon Keller-Farnworth Spokane

Service for Brandon James Keller-Farnworth, 3, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Brandon died Monday in a mobile home fire. He was born in Spokane.

He is survived by his father and mother, Troy Farnworth and Carey Keller; two brothers, Darien Farnworth and Scotty Keller; one sister, Cara Lynn Farnworth; his grandparents, Jacqueline and Steven Fleury, Jeannie Keller and Chuck Keller, all of Spokane; great-grandparents, John and Wilma Ferrell of Post Falls, Myrtle and Chuck Yuckel, Spokane, and Vera Farnworth of Henderson, Nev.

Frances Dunphy Coeur d’Alene

Service for Frances M. Dunphy, 79, is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be in Wallace.

Mrs. Dunphy died Wednesday at Sunset Terrace Convalescent Center. She was born, grew up and graduated from high school in Wallace. After attending Kinman Business College in Spokane, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Wallace Supply Company. She married Bill Dunphy in 1953.

In 1984, she moved to the Coeur d’Alene area.

She served as secretary for the Women’s Bowling League and enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, skiing, golf and had a tremendous love for animals.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include five nephews.

Reva Barnhart Redondo Beach, Calif.

Service for Reva G. Barnhart, 87, was held Wednesday at Creston (Wash.) Christian Church. Burial was at at Creston Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barnhart died March 27 in Redondo Beach, Calif., where she had been for the last five years.

She was born in Wisconsin and graduated from Cheney Normal School. She taught in Entiat, Wash., and later moved to Creston, Wash., with her husband, Lloyd Barnhart. He preceded her in death.

She was active in the Creston River Club, Creston Christian Church Women’s Fellowship and helped build many of the Creston-Lincoln Community floats.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet Barnhart of Redondo Beach; one son, Morris Barnhart of Nevada; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Creston Civic Club or Creston Community Club.

Jessie Martin Spokane

Graveside service for Jessie Anne (Mitchell) Martin, 90, is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin died Monday at St. Brendan Care Center.

She was born in Sprague, Wash.

She attended schools in Oroville, Wash., and moved to Spokane in 1924. She and her husband, Aaron Martin, owned and operated Aaron’s Tavern and Sporting Goods for more than 35 years. Mr. Martin died in 1981.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Hagle; one son, Fred “Bud” Martin, both of Spokane; five grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Brendan Nursing Home.

Sister Celestine Elzer, O.P. Spokane

Funeral Mass for Sister Celestine Elzer, 93, is planned for 10:30 a.m. today at the Dominican Center. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Germany, Sr. Elzer died Tuesday. She was a member of the Dominican Sisters of Spokane, now the Sinsinawa Dominicans.

She entered the Institute of St. Dominic in Speyer, Germany when she was 21, as a novice. She immigrated to the United States in 1928 an worked until 1934 at Carroll College in Helena. She was a nurse at hospitals in Chewelah, Tonasket, Wash., and Colville for 15 years. She returned to Carroll College for the next five years and also lived in Kettle Falls at Our Lady of the Valley Convent. She later served as sacristan in the Dominican Center and Holy Family Hospital for 10 years.

There are no surviving family members.

Louis Menke Wilbur, Wash.

Graveside service for Louis Menke, 79, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Wilbur (Wash.) Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Menke died Tuesday.

He was born in Wilbur.

He worked as a millwright at Lincoln Mill in Creston, Wash.

He was a member of Wilbur Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6268.

He is survived his companion of 35 years, Nora Miller; one daughter, Debby Storms of Veradale; one son, Bob Miller of Spokane; one stepdaughter, Rita Buff of Everett, Wash.; two stepsons, Sam and Larry Miller, both of Electric City, Wash.; one brother, Herman Menke; two sisters, Marie Bergau and Pat Lee, all of Newport; two grandsons; six stepgrandchildren and four step-greatgrandchildren.
