Flash floods that turned rivers near Marrakesh into raging torrents have killed at least 156 people in the region’s worst catastrophe in 50 years, the Interior Ministry said.

Dozens of homes and stores and several government buildings were destroyed Friday night by the floods, which were triggered by violent storms Thursday.
