Taiwan Tallies Win

Compiled From Wire Services

Taiwan defeated the Dominican Republic 5-1 in what probably was a meeting of the two best teams in the round-robin Little League World Series baseball tournament.

Chia Ming Cheng, his fastball clocked at 78 mph, pitched a seven-hitter and struck out 11. The Taipei team played an errorless game, rare for 11- and 12-yearolds.

In other games, Saudi Arabia beat Canada 5-4, Spring, Texas, downed Toms River, N.J., 11-10, and Yorba Linda, Calif., defeated Arden Hills, Minn., 17-5.
