Airbus Industrie Unveils New Jetliner

European aerospace consortium Airbus Industrie unveiled a new two-engine, 124-seat jetliner on Thursday.

A total of 81 of the new A319 planes have already been sold and the first are to be delivered to Swissair next year.

The plane’s maiden flight is set for next week.

The A319 is 112 feet long, travels at 527 mph and costs nearly $27 million. It is a shortened version of the Airbus A320, which has 150 seats.

Airbus is a consortium of British, French, German and Spanish companies.
