Riley Deal Rumored

Compiled From Wire Services

The Miami Heat’s pursuit of Pat Riley has ended successfully, according to an unconfirmed broadcast report.

CNN Sports reported the Knicks, Heat and Riley have reached an agreement that will allow Riley to coach Miami this season. According to CNN, “Riley told a source an announcement is imminent.”

A Heat source was optimistic Riley will coach in Miami this season, but said CNN’s report was inaccurate.

The Heat is expected to send a No. 1 draft choice and cash to New York as compensation to allow Riley out of the final year of his contract with the Knicks. Still, a New York official insisted privately that the Heat and Knicks had not resolved whether the No. 1 pick would be conditional. The Heat wants to keep the pick if it falls in the lottery.
