Maxwell Arrested: Police Allegedly Find Marijuana In His Car

Compiled From Wire Services

Former Houston Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell, pulled over for running a red light in Houston Monday evening, ended up in jail after police allegedly found a bag of marijuana on the floorboard of his Mercedes.

Maxwell, 29, waived by the Rockets in June, gave his address as “unknown” and told officers he has been living in the sports coupe.

His expensive Houston-area home was posted for public sale in May but was removed from the auction block in June.

Maxwell was charged with Class B misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and was released from jail Tuesday morning.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Elden Campbell will admit he was driving drunk when he crashed his car in Simi Valley, Calif., earlier this summer, his lawyer said in Ventura, Calif.

Campbell, 27, of Torrance, Calif., and a passenger, Reginald Johnson, 25, of Los Angeles, sustained minor injuries in the crash, which occurred at 2:23 a.m. July 3 on Highway 118, authorities said.
