Convicted Killer Allowed Out On Bail

Compiled From Wire Services

A woman convicted of murder and facing a sentence of 18 years to life has been released on bail, outraging prosecutors and the victim’s family.

Victoria Flores, 35, was convicted Friday of second-degree murder in the death two years ago of Rhonda McClinton.

Police testified they saw Flores shoot McClinton in the head after a fight outside a bar.

Superior Court Judge Morris Jones denied prosecutors’ request to revoke Flores’ $100,000 bail pending her sentencing on Jan. 16, or to increase it to $1 million.

McClinton’s grandfather, Nathaniel Robinson, said Flores “shouldn’t be able to walk free. I know Flores is a danger to society.”

There was no explanation from the judge.
