Searchers on Monday found the body of a fisherman who disappeared Sunday when a boat with three people aboard capsized off the west coast of Vancouver Island.

He was the second man to die as a result of the capsizing off Cape Beale. A third man made it to shore near Cape Beale and was rescued. Their names were not immediately available.

The 50-foot Dalewood Provider, based in Vancouver, was en route to Bamfield from Sooke when it capsized Sunday in 20-foot waves, said Capt. Yves Pruneau of the rescue center.

The men managed to get into a lifeboat, which also capsized in the rough water off the cape, Pruneau said.

A helicopter picked up one crewman, cold but unhurt, from a beach about 90 minutes after the accident was reported by the Cape Beale lightkeeper.

The body of a second crew member washed ashore.

A helicopter from the U.S. Coast Guard in Port Angeles, Wash., joined Canadian vessels and aircraft in the search.
