High Bail Set In Church Beating Death

Associated Press

A judge set bail ranging from $350,000 to $1 million Wednesday for six of the seven teenagers charged with beating another youth to death on the steps of a church.

About 50 people attended the hearing. More than 100 people turned out for a weekend rally urging the judge to deny bail.

Eddie Polec, 16, was beaten Nov. 11 by a mob of baseball bat-wielding teenagers in front of a church where he’d served as altar boy. He died the next day.
