Whitworth At Pacific; Lewis & Clark

The Pirates (7-3 Northwest Conference of Independent Colleges, 18-7 overall) wrap up the regular season on the road against Pacific (1-9, 6-18) on Friday at 8 p.m. and against Lewis & Clark (6-4, 12-13) on Saturday at 8 p.m.

At a glance

Here’s how tough the NCIC is: Five out of the conference’s seven teams could wind up with the NCIC title late Saturday night (Whitworth 7-3, Willamette 7-4, Lewis & Clark 6-4, Pacific Lutheran 5-5, Whitman 5-5).

There could be a five-way tie for first place by weekend’s end. If the Pirates win both games, they are NCIC champs.

On back-to-back nights, Whitworth will have the duty of trying to stop the league’s top two scorers. Pacific features No. 2 scorer Brett Jeffries, who is averaging 18.7 points per game. Lewis & Clark showcases top scorer Dinari Foreman (26.1). Earlier this season, the Pirates held Jeffries and Foreman to 13 and 10 points, respectively, at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
