Gte Drops Nw Classic
GTE, deciding to cut back on sports marketing, will discontinue its sponsorship of the Northwest Classic, this area’s Senior PGA tournament, after this year and sponsor just one event, Florida’s Sun Coast Classic.
GTE has sponsored Seattle’s senior tournament since it began in 1986.
The company is changing its marketing priorities to meet increased competition and a rapidly changing industry, said Eileen O’Neill Odum, GTE Northwest regional president.
