Spokane Horse Will Compete In Pan-American Games

From Staff Reports

Spokane will be represented in the Pan-American Games next month in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Batido, an 8-year-old Hanoverian stallion owned by Dr. Roberto Cattaneo and his wife, Gayle, will compete in the dressage segment of the equestrian competition March 14-24.

Ridden by the Cattaneos’ trainer, Guenter Seidel of San Diego, Batido finished third among more than 80 horses in the 6-month-long Pan-Am Games selection trials. The top four earned spots on the United States team.

“He never placed lower than fourth, and won two of the events, in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Del Mar, Calif.,” Gayle Cattaneo said.

She said the couple, who imported the horse from Germany two years ago, will be on hand for the games.
