Bruins Have Too Many O’Bannons To Suit Huskies

Pac-10

Charles O’Bannon scored 18 points, Ed O’Bannon had 15 and No. 6 UCLA used a 16-2 second-half run to beat Washington 75-57 Thursday night at Los Angeles.

Washington (0-3, 4-7) kept it close for much of the first half and trailed by just three at halftime, but Charles O’Bannon scored UCLA’s first two baskets and his brother had seven points in the decisive spurt that gave the Bruins (2-1, 8-1) a 48-31 advantage with 13:20 to play.

The Huskies never came closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Bryant Boston led Washington with 14 points and Mike Amos added 12.

For a while, it looked as though the Bruins would have another tough time in a conference game. Last week, UCLA lost at Oregon in its conference opener and then trailed by six at halftime before defeating Oregon State.

But Washington missed on three straight attempts and committed a turnover during UCLA’s gamebreaking run.
