Associated Press

El Salvador announced Tuesday it is joining other Latin American nations in suspending coffee exports temporarily to shore up plunging prices.

Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and

Colombia already have stopped coffee exports after international prices dropped from $180 per 106-pound bag in May to $130 last week.

Brazil said Tuesday it hasn’t decided whether to suspend its own exports.
