The Idaho State Bar has awarded a Coeur d’Alene lawyer the highest recognition given by the state’s legal profession.

The bar named Eugene L. Miller the 1995 Distinguished Lawyer.

Miller began practicing law in 1949. He has been a senior partner at Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke & Miller in Coeur d’Alene since 1986. He also served as president of the Idaho State Bar from 1970 to 1971.

The Coeur d’Alene lawyer also has been involved in many community groups such as the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club and the Boy Scouts Advisory Council.

Gov. Phil Batt and Bar President Ken Howard will present the award to Miller at a Coeur d’Alene Resort luncheon today.

The annual recognition is made to one attorney in the state who has distinguished the profession through exemplary conduct and many years in the profession, according to a release from the Idaho State Bar.
