Commission Rivals Narrowed To Three

From Staff Reports

Spokane County Democrats on Tuesday narrowed the field of candidates to three for the vacant District 1 county commission seat.

The Democratic Central Committee will forward the names of George Marlton, John Roskelley and Frank Yuse to county commissioners Steve Hasson and Phil Harris today.

Six people applied for the job. The top three were picked through a vote of the party’s precinct chairs.

Marlton is an attorney, Yuse is a county planning commissioner and Roskelley is a businessman.

Harris and Hasson will interview the three candidates some time in the coming weeks, then choose one to fill the slot until the November elections, when it will be up for grabs.

The position came open when Democrat Skip Chilberg resigned at the end of May to take a seat on the Growth Management Hearings Board for Eastern Washington.
