Langer Takes Lead

Bernhard Langer, not troubled by chilly, gusty winds, fired a 6-under-par 66 and opened a four-stroke lead in the $1 million European Tournament Players Championship at Hamburg, Germany. Langer had a 133 for the two rounds.

Davis Love III shot an 8-under-par 63, matching the course and tournament record, for a two-stroke lead over Scott Hoch after two rounds at Potomac, Md. Love completed 36 holes at 11-under 131, breaking the tournament record set by Chris Perry in 1987 by one stroke.

Tina Tombs had eight birdies as she posted her first round in the 60s this season - a 6-under-par 66 - to join Cindy Rarick and Julie Larsen in a tie for the first-round lead of the First BankEdina Realty LPGA Classic at Brooklyn Park, Minn.

Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum, Idaho, fired a 71.

Harold Henning posted seven birdies and no bogeys in a 65 that gave him a onestroke lead after the first round of the $1.1 million BellSouth Senior Classic at Nashville, Tenn.
